The Narrative Enneagram Training

11 days is a long time. It’s over 1/3rd of a month. A lot can happen in this span of time...if you’re open to it happening.

The past week and a half we had the privilege to learn about, and start our certification in, The Narrative Enneagram. The Enneagram is a tool, a map used to deepen awareness of self and others. It is a system of 9 character structures that each have their own unique motivations, tendencies, and goals.

One of our favorite parts about the Enneagram is that it gives us a common language. It helps us work on our relationship not only with ourselves, but also in our partnership, as well as with our friends, family, and larger community. It is especially useful when we can use it to problem solve a conflict or to try to grow in love for someone who it’s hard for us to love.

Yesterday, as we were participating in the closing circle of the training, we realized that we had so much love and curiosity about every person we had spent our time with. Even in a room full of vastly different people, who each have their own unique story and journey, through practicing vulnerability and respecting others as they shared, really special relationships were formed. When people are actively working on themselves, when they have the humility to become aware of their tendencies, their areas of growth, and their gifts, life is different, relationships are different.

Thank you to each and every one of the people we met and connected with this week. Your vulnerability was life-changing for us. Our time together was a perfect reminder that by better understanding ourselves and others, we can all move towards a more loving and joyful world.

Stay tuned for our Enneagram podcast series which will dive into each of the nine types. If you’ve never learned about the Enneagram, these will be a great introduction. And even if you’re pretty well-versed in the system, you will benefit from the narrative interview style of our episodes.
